At 1235 hours Whiteford Volunteers were dispatched to assist Rawlinville VFC Sta. 5-8 with a Search Detail along the Susquehanna River. At 1235hrs. U671 called eroute and arrived at 1250hrs. The day before a boat and passengers had gone over the Holtwood Dam after the boat became disabled. All the passengers were rescued with the exception of one female. During the entire incident Chief 6 assisted Command with additional resources and escorts of various Maryland departments. Chief 6-2 assisted at the Command Center and was later assigned a search detail along the river banks. Numerous departments from Lancaster York ChesterPA Harford counties assisted with the search.
