Whiteford, MD – At 2048 hours, Whiteford Volunteers were dispatched for a reported woods fire in the area of 3900blk of Bay Rd. At 2050hrs. Chief 6 called en-route and was advised by Dispatch that the caller from Heaps Rd was reporting a large fire in the area. Due to the high winds, Chief 6 requested an additional brush unit, which brought York Co. B57 to the scene. At 2054hrs. Brush 6 called en-route, followed by E612 at 2057hrs. At At 2059hrs. units arrived and found a large controlled burn on the property that was being wind driven toward the adjacent woods. At 2104hrs. Command then requested additional engines from Delta-Cardiff (E57), Darlington VFC ((E913), and an engine & brush from Norrisville VFC (B10 & E1011) for water and manpower to the scene. Units were able to extinguish the fire in about 20 mins.
Units cleared at 2212hrs.
