WHITEFORD VFC IMPROVES ISO RATING

pThe Whiteford Volunteer Fire Company is proud to announce our Insurance Service Office ISO rating has improved from a Class 79 to Class 59. The Whiteford VFC has been working on this project for the pass four 4 years.ppThe Class 5 number represents the property fire protection classification.The Class 9 number represents to water supply system classification.ppISOnbsphelps establish appropriate fire insurance premiums for residential and commercial properties insurance companies need reliable up-to-date information about communitys fire-protection services. ISO provides that information through the Public Protection Classification PPC program. ISO collects information on the municipal fire-protection efforts in communities throughout the United States. In each of those communities ISO analyzes the relevant data using the Fire Suppression Rating Schedule. They assign a Public Protection Classification 1 to 10. Class 1 generally represents superior property fire protection and Class 10 indicates that the areas fire-suppression program doesnt meet ISOs minimum criteria.ppISO has extensive information on more than 44000 fire-response jurisdictions.ppThe last rating innbspthe Whiteford Cardiff Pylesville and portion of Street areas wasnbspcompleted in 1994. Since thennbspnumerous changes and additions have been made to improve this rating. Thenbspcompany provided over 1000 documents that included responses manpower training station apparatus Standard Operating Guidelines pre-plans dry-hydrant system and maintenance records for ISO review.ppThe great news is that this ratingnbspbenefits both home amp business owners withnbspthe opportunity ofnbspgaining insurance savings that willnbspgo intonbspeffect by 2011. We encouragenbspproperty owners to contact their insurance companies to see if they qualify for thisnbspsavings. Most insurance companies use ISO ratings however anbspvery small amount do not.nbspppnbspThe second phase will conduct the Tanker Shuttle grading to lower our 9 rating by the end of the year. Since there is no public water supply system we reply on Tankers to transport large volume of water to the scene fromnbspone of the twelvenbsp12 reliable water supply locations. Our efforts have enable us to install dry-hydrant materials at these strategical locations. These material consist of large diameter plastic pipe with fire dept. fittings that provide a quick means in obtaining water. Five of these location have been credited by ISO.
